My Toylander Build
I have just achieved a life long dream, to own one of the '3 Graces' stable of cars, namely a 1960 Ford Consul Low-line.
I have l had several 'classic' (older) cars in my time, a Vauxhall 'HA' Viva, two Morris Minors, (a van and a 2 door saloon), a Rover P6 Saloon (between the Minors), a pretty good car for a 21 year old, and a Mk 1 Ford Escort Estate.
My introduction to the big Fords (probably like everyone) was through my dad buying a two tone blue saloon (839 XTB where are you now?), which replaced an aging Morris Minor as our next family car.
My pride and joy is an 'Imperial Maroon' example, bought from a garage in Stockport. It has had loads of work done over it's life, with bills and receipts to show. Some welding work in it's life time, but generally a sound example.
It was purchased with the intension of being a 'Rolling Restoration', something I can tinker with, but mechanically sound so I can use it on an 'as needed' basis.
Most of the renovation work will be on the interior, as the usual seats and door cards are showing their 54 years age, it's not a complete basket case, just well used! It also needs the front & rear bumpers re-chroming.
When I have some pictures, I will upload them for you all to see, and will try to get down to the next club meeting in September.
