I am restoring a 1957 Beardmore Paramouny Mk7 London taxi. This vehicle had as original equipment a Mk1 Ford Consul engine and gearbox with three speed column change.(Later Mk2 1700cc four speed). It still has a Ford engine which is running fairly well and the overall condition of the vehicle is very good. I have had to answer some questions regarding the model wrongly to enable me to make the submission. More to be added at a later date.
I have many very happy memories of my dad hiring gorgeous Ford Consul 375's each year for our annual two week summer holiday. The were always almost new and were hired from the Co-op depot in Leith, Edinburgh. One year there were none available and we had to hire a clapped out Austin 16 from a local garage. My dad was raging at the dilapidated condition but it was that or nothing. As a wartime driver he removed the rotor arm every night to prevent theft by any invading armies!!
